RUN, JEN, RUN

This is what Paris Goodyear-Brown said to me when I told her I was
still NOT READY
to run
my first half-marathon this weekend.

This is something I never thought I would ever consider doing,
and yet...here I am doing it.

There's something about being part of a group that is just so energizing.

And, there's even research about what happens when people participate in synchronized activities together -
I will talk more about that in the blog on groups
that I have scheduled for this Friday.

But first, I've heard so many stories from runners about "last mile" friends.
These are people who run with you during the last mile of your race
because you are so tired that
you need to borrow some of their fresh energy to make it to the end.

Want to be one of my last mile friends??
Also, there's no running involved.

I am attempting to finish this half-marathon in about 2.5 hours.
It starts at 7am Eastern time on Sunday January 16th.
That means that somewhere after 9am Eastern,
I will be getting close to the finish line.

Do me a favor?

Text, "Run, Jen, Run" to 443-884-9222
between 9am-9:30am Eastern time on Sunday 1/16.

If I'm walking and I see it, it will motivate me to get moving.
If I'm running, I will hear the dings and know that's what they say.

I will feel your fresh energy pulling me towards the finish line.

And next week, I will choose one of the texts at random and
give you a free 30 minute strategy session
to help you get through one of your current projects.

TOGETHER.  That's how we get things done.

Here's a few others chances for you to be "part of the group"

SAND TRAY T-SHRT
I'm not usually one to wear matching T-shirts, but how fun will it be to be part of the #TrayChic group? Becky Walker of IPLAY Apparel took my words and made them into this fabulous shirt.  They should be in very soon. Go to her Facebook page and grab this one so that you are ready for the next group photo - maybe at the Mid-Atlantic Play Therapy Conference in June??

A FEW SPOTS LEFT!
Journal to the Self Class

One of my former students said about the Journal to the Self class,
"this group journaling - this should be a thing!"
It's so powerful.  I told her "IT"S A THING!"  There is a difference between journaling alone and doing it in a group setting.  Your privacy is maintained but the discussions and reflections really help the material stick.  I would love you to be part of this small and supportive group that starts January 25th.

SAN DIEGO TRAINING!
And, of course, the best community is the one where we get to connect, reflect and rebuild TOGETHER in-person with Lisa Dion and Clair Mellenthin.  We had a planning meeting about this last week and it has me all kinds of excited about the experiential activities that you will get to do (and then use with your clients!)
(APT/NBCC Credits available)

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT:
Dr. Roz Heiko
G
et in-depth training from my favorite Sandplay therapist from the comfort of your living space by taking  yourself on a Heroine's Journey for Girls in this course with Dr. Roz Heiko.

You could even WEAR your new T-Shirt WHILE taking the class! How fun would that be???

Mapping the Heroine's Journey for Girls in SandPlay
is available as a recorded course offering 5 NON-CONTACT APT play therapy training hours: 2 hours on the special topic of sandplay; .5 hours of seminal theory and 2.5 hours of play therapy interventions made available by Dr. Roz Training & Consultation an APT Approved Provider (#18-547).

AND FROM MY JOURNAL TO YOURS

Participate in a GROUP journaling experience using poetry!
At the The Pongo Poetry project 6500 youth (and counting) have written poems based off of their free writing prompts.
I pasted a tiny bit of one called "A Toy Like Me" below
I used to look for a toy like me, hoping for an image of myself to hold—
a toy that _______________________________________(laughed the loudest, could belch the alphabet???)
and____________________________________and _________________________________________
(danced the longest, could jump rope for days???)     (needed to be left alone sometimes, was afraid of the dark?)

But all the toys I found seemed like they were made for___________________________________
(kids who were white, skinny, tall, boyish, girly???)

Get the entire worksheet
from A Toy Like Me Writing Prompt at the
and if you want, share it with them and be part of their poetry community.
OR share it with me!
I'd love to hear about your experience using poetry for yourself or your clients!
