Flower Therapy
I started taking flower arranging classes a little over a year ago. I thought arranging flowers was a hobby.

But, there is a whole field of people who study and research ecotherapy, botanical therapy, and horticultural therapy
so, like many things - it can be both.
Fun and therapuetic.

I have recently started to keep track of the ways that we can use FLOWERS IN FAMILY THERAPY.

And what I learned - is what happens
EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I am not the first person to think about flowers.
Shocking, right?

But, you know how that happens - you get hooked on something new and want to tell all of your friends about it and then realize that people have been doing this for years!

And that's great!
When I posted our family flower project on my social media page last weekend, I had someone share photos of their family at the tulip fields.  Another friend sent me a photo of her family making flower crowns.

And someone else commented that they use the dead flowers as paint brushes!

And someone else received LEGO flowers as a thank-you present.

Seeing that we all share this love and joy of flowers make me happy.

NOTE TO SELF:
You don't have to be the expert in order to get a conversation started.  Start with where you are, with what you know, and like a bee to a flower - you will attract others that share your passions!

**Also, if you have cool things that you have done with your family or clients involving flowers, flower crafts or flower/botanical arranging, please share them with me!

*this was our project - super simple.  Match like things and spread them out in a variety of containers.  You can't mess this one up!

JEN'S JOURNAL
Using this poem as a Springboard, think about what flowers teach us about impermanence.
Percy Shelley, ‘The Flower That Smiles To-Day’.

The flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow dies;
All that we wish to stay
Tempts and then flies.
What is this world’s delight?
Lightning that mocks the night,Brief even as bright.

Write for 5 minutes about your current joys by beginning your journal with the phrase

"what is this world's delight...."
