CELEBRATING YOUR WORK!
HAPPY LABOR DAY!

A day we use to celebrate the work force.
A day to celebrate your own hard work.

If you have a business or a job you love, you might even spend time working today - because....well, it's such so rewarding.

Hopefully, you also find some time for rest.

If you are feeling like the work you are doing doesn't matter or like you are off track from the things you've always dreamed of doing, I call your attention to the classic book, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Remember in Part Two, The Boy was working at for the crystal merchant polishing crystal glasses and the chapter starts out by saying, "he could see it wasn't exactly the kind of job that would make him happy."  And yet, he kept offering good ideas about how the crystal merchant could sell more crystal.  They started selling tea in those crystal glasses and business was booming.  Until one day, The Boy decided it was time to leave the crystal merchant. He is ready to give up and go back home to return to his job as a shepherd.

But then he  realizes that his dream IS still important to him.  He realizes that instead of thinking of that year with the crystal merchant as wasted time, that he is
"actually two hours closer to his treasure...the fact that the two hours had stretched into an entire year didn't matter."

On Labor Day today, I encourage you to think about the work you do in the world - whether you are currently pursuing your passion or feel like you are stuck polishing someone else's crystal glasses
and consider

How is whatever you are doing right now getting you closer to your dream?

What am I working on right now that is getting me closer to the bigger goal that I have for myself?
