As part of a journaling exercise in 2019, I was given a prompt to make a list of "things I'd like to do one day"
No timeframes, no budgets, no specific number of things. On this list, I wrote a bunch of things - -tons of places to travel, of course -learn to play the drums (haha) and also.... "learn how to make flowers look pretty in a vase"
After reflecting on different parts of the list, I googled "flower arranging classes near me" and happened to find out that a local florist actually did classes one time per month.
The classes were $55 each. (That seemed like a lot of money).
But, I have found that the journal is where the magic lies. So I signed up and made a decision to do every class they had for an entire year.
The first class? It was fun, but not life-changing.
But after 12 classes, I started to feel like I was really getting the hang of it. I made a habit of getting flowers at the grocery store. I started doing flower arranging activities with my kids. My social media friends started to notice that I was suddenly really into flowers!
It was a really good investment.
In 12 months, I learned "how to make flowers look pretty in a vase" but what I really learned was to listen to my journal!
And what I know for sure is that if you commit to a years worth of journaling, it WILL become a habit.
And, you will find some magic in your writing that will help you find permission to do more of the things you've always wanted.
Until then, let me be that little voice that gives you permission to make time and space for yourself in the coming year.
This is the last day to join the Journal the Year 2023 group while the price is still way down at $149
That's only $12.41 a month -which leaves you room for flowers on your writing table, or a few new journal books or some fun colored pens. (I get my journals at Marshalls, btw, in case you want some that are perfectly sized and not too expensive). GET THE BONUS
In our meetings, I will review my 8-Step PLAY PLAN worksheet.
It's my secret weapon before starting any new project.
I will go ahead and tell you now that the P stands for PERMISSION. It's the starting point for every new adventure.
Permission to move that standing appointment. Permission to bring your lunch (or breakfast or dinner depending on where you are). Permission to spend an hour on yourself. Permission to try something new next year and see just see what happens.
